Washu decided to give Phyllis Schlafly an honorary degree.
Naturally, this raised an uproar. Here she is giving a speech at Depaul, where they’re much more into diversity. We don’t like that kind of thing at WashU, we want everyone to think exactly the same thing.
And here are some excerpts from the [...]

I see these bumper stickers fairly often around WashU. Odd, since this is a place that simply despises religion.
But I’ve got a few problems with these things.
First of all, I can’t remember the last time a Christian saddled up, guns blazing, and rode into the local Chabad and laid waste to all within because [...]

I made the mistake of reading StudLife, our campus newspaper. They refuse to publish my articles, because I do not meet their rigorous standards for journalistic excellence. Consider excerpts from the following article:
In response to a reaccreditation report calling for an improved level of diversity on the Washington University campus, the University has formed the [...]

The Happy Conservative is calling out again for contributors.
The purpose of the blog is to connect and to coordinate conservative insurrection on campus, or at the very least to document various outrages of political correctness and and intolerance.
If you’re a conservative on campus, WashU or otherwise, I want your voice here. Quality writing and thoughtful [...]

While I’m avoiding the 2×2 Heckscher-Ohlin model.
The next time you hear about how schools are underfunded, consider how that money affects the student population.
Let’s say the government decides to increase funding for student grants. Great idea, guys. A couple of things happen.
At schools where enrollment is capped (like Washington U.) by factors other than money, [...]

I hate living on campus.
I lived on campus my freshman year, part of a terrible social experiment designed to get you out of your box. As with most social experiments, it was a colossal failure that the private sector could have done for half price.
I had a little board on my door, upon which one [...]

Obama says I’m bitter, and therefore I cling to my Winchester and my Bible because I can’t understand why jobs have left my home town of Tarkio.
I had a Sergeant Airborne who would say “Alright, I’ll play your game. I’ll play it. I’ll play along.” Struck fear in my heart. That’s how I got out [...]

It’s very important to keep cultural perspective in ….. perspective.
Last week, my learned history entered a lengthy digression on Lewis and Clark’s interactions with the Indians. Native Americans. American Indians. American Indian Natives. Redskins. Bloodthirsty Animals. Savages. Great Bison Protectors. Stewards of the Land.
It depends, you see.
You can’t simply teach the Corps of Discovery [...]

I’ve been thinking about why people write blogs.
I think I’m looking for an audience. If I weren’t, I could just write on legal pads or windows. I’ve gone through the difficulty of opening a website for a reason: I want readers and feedback.
This leads me to two questions:
1. Why do I [...]
